Paramount Redirects Annual Christmas Treat to Melissa Relief
PARAMOUNT TRADING COMMUNITY UPDATE
For more than two decades, Paramount Trading (Jamaica) Limited’s annual Christmas Treat has been an important part of the company’s commitment to giving back during the holiday season.
In 2025, however, the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa changed the focus of that tradition. Rather than proceeding with the annual community treat in its usual format, Paramount redirected its Christmas giving initiative toward supporting Jamaicans affected by the hurricane.
From Christmas Treat to Hurricane Relief
Paramount had originally been preparing for the 21st Annual Waltham Park Community Christmas Treat, which was scheduled for December 13, 2025 at the company’s Waltham Park location.
The annual event traditionally brings children and families from Waltham Park and surrounding communities together for a day of activities, entertainment, food, gifts and community fellowship.
Following Hurricane Melissa and the widespread disruption experienced by communities in western Jamaica, Paramount adapted its planned December giving initiative to respond to a more immediate need.
The spirit of the annual Christmas Treat remained the same — bringing support, care and encouragement to Jamaicans during the Christmas season — but in 2025 that spirit was directed toward hurricane recovery.
Taking the Spirit of Giving to Trelawny
As part of the Hurricane Melissa relief effort, members of the Paramount Trading Jamaica team travelled to Trelawny before Christmas to provide support to residents affected by the hurricane.
Paramount staff distributed much-needed relief supplies to members of the local community, taking the company’s annual tradition of Christmas giving beyond its usual Waltham Park setting and directly to Jamaicans recovering from the storm.
The initiative reflected the willingness of Paramount employees to respond when communities needed assistance and demonstrated how an established company tradition could be adapted to meet changing circumstances.
Continuing a Tradition of Community Support
Although 2025 looked different from previous years, Paramount’s commitment to community remained unchanged.
The decision to redirect the annual Christmas initiative toward Hurricane Melissa relief reflected the same values that have supported the Christmas Treat for more than two decades — compassion, community involvement and a commitment to making a positive contribution beyond the company’s everyday business operations.
Paramount Trading Jamaica remains committed to supporting the communities in which it operates and to standing with Jamaicans during times of both celebration and hardship.
