Paramount Trading Posts $54.9M Q1 Profit

Paramount Trading (Jamaica) Limited delivered a strong start to its 2025/2026 financial year, reporting net profit after tax of approximately $54.9 million for the first quarter ended August 31, 2025.
Revenue increased to $445.2 million, representing growth of approximately 14.4 per cent compared with $389.1 million during the corresponding period of the previous year.
Strong First-Quarter Turnaround
The quarterly result represented a significant turnaround from the loss recorded during the comparable prior-year period.
Gross profit increased approximately 57.7 per cent to $210.4 million, supported by stronger revenue and improved margins across the business.
Paramount also recorded growth across several operating segments. The Construction segment increased significantly during the quarter, while Technical Grade and Bleach also recorded year-over-year growth.
Cost Control Supports Improved Performance
Operating expenses declined approximately 8.1 per cent to $116.3 million compared with the same quarter of the previous year, demonstrating the impact of Paramount’s continued focus on cost containment and operational efficiency.
Finance costs increased to approximately $22.1 million from $19.7 million in the corresponding period, reflecting financing associated with the company’s corporate bond and ongoing investments in its operations.
The improved quarterly performance follows a period of organisational restructuring, customer re-engagement and investment in new manufacturing and commercial opportunities.
Paramount’s Board and management indicated that the company would continue pursuing opportunities to expand its revenue base while maintaining disciplined control over operating costs.
